Nie hätte ich gedacht, dass eine kurze Reise von nur viereinhalb Tagen und fünf Nächten, ein einziges Wiedersehen mit meiner Verwandtschaft nach 37 Jahren, zur Inspiration für mehr als zwanzig sehr persönliche Songs werden würde. Songs auf Englisch und Deutsch, die für mich wie Therapie wirken und wie Heilung für meine Seele.

Wenn man jahrzehntelang naiv, blind und völlig ahnungslos durchs Leben kämpft, nur um zu überleben, und nicht bemerkt, dass sich die eigene Familie nie wirklich für einen interessiert, weil man die Schuld immer wieder dem Leben gegeben hat, dann trifft die Wahrheit irgendwann wie ein Erwachen aus einem bösen Traum. Die Enttäuschung sitzt tief, der Schmerz ist bitter und schwer zu begreifen.

Natürlich fragt man sich über all die Jahre immer wieder warum. Doch man sucht Ausreden und verdrängt bewusst und unbewusst, was man eigentlich schon längst fühlt. Dieses Album ist mein Weg, all diese Gefühle zu verarbeiten, die Wahrheit anzunehmen und endlich Frieden damit zu schließen.

Denn eines habe ich gelernt: Liebe ist selbst in der eigenen Verwandtschaft nicht selbstverständlich. Von wegen Blut ist dicker als Wasser. Oft sind Verwandte fremder als Fremde auf der Straße. Man kennt diese Menschen nicht wirklich und weiß nicht, wer sie innerlich sind und wie sie ticken.

Nicht jeder Mensch ist in der Lage zu lieben, zu teilen, zu geben oder zu verstehen. Nicht jeder besitzt die emotionale Reife für Mitgefühl, Wärme oder echte Empathie.

Und deshalb bleibt am Ende nur eines, um weiterzugehen: akzeptieren und loslassen. Egal wie schmerzhaft und enttäuschend die Wahrheit auch ist.

Von wegen Zeit heilt alle Wunden. Je mehr Zeit vergeht, desto tiefer brennt der Schmerz, weil man sich machtlos und hilflos fühlt. Und dennoch funktioniert man weiter, orientiert sich im Leben wie ein Leuchtturm im Sturm, durch Regen, Gewitter, einsame finstere Nächte und Kälte, und leuchtet Tag ein, Tag aus.

Man hat keine andere Wahl, als zu sagen:
Egal wie laut der Sturm ist, ich bleibe stehen.
Egal wie finster die Welt wird, ich leuchte weiter.
Egal wie einsam ich bin, ich strahle trotzdem, auch wenn niemand hinsieht.

Ich schenke Licht, ohne etwas zurückzuverlangen – selbst wenn die Wellen des Lebens gegen mich schlagen.
